anghraine: tarrlok from legend of korra with his three ponytails (tarrlok (hair))
I posted the next chapter of one more tomorrow!

“Should we take her out now, sir?” the Lieutenant asked.

“No.” The answer came without thought.

He’d given it before, though always accompanied by some excuse or another. She was so well-guarded that capturing her would entail the sacrifice of good men and women; it wasn’t worth it, not yet. Or it was too early to attack such a public figure. Or—well, there was always something.

But as her measures had become more and more aggressive, he knew he’d only delayed the inevitable. And however he justified himself, he understood what must happen. He had no business delaying it out of nothing more than a boy’s sentimentality. He knew that. Knew that anyone else’s sister would already have paid for her actions.

And so must Taraka.

I reblogged a parallels gifset of Tarrlok's henchman revealing that he's a bloodbender/Noatak's lieutenant confronting him over being a bloodbender, and added:

Whoa, a parallel that never occurred to me, but ... yeah. Noatak and Tarrlok can't even seem to help mirroring each other, no matter what they do.

Sometimes, I think about the Lieutenant's reaction when Korra says "And his brother is Councilman Tarrlok!" That's when he starts to get suspicious, out of all the things she said. What do you think happened between Tarrlok's capture (if it wasn't just the capture itself) and the rally to make the Lieutenant react to that sentence?

I replied:

It’s been a long time since I watched that moment, but … my impression is that, in a more egalitarian(lol) organization, Amon’s behaviour wrt Tarrlok would have already raised questions.

While I was doing fandom anthropology, I found that a significant number of those who hated the Book 1 finale were Lieumon shippers. Along with your thoughts on the ship, I've found that Lieumon is the most guilty of killing off a brother, and having the other one shrug it off (Amorra and Korrlok do it too, but not to the same extent; Korrlok is the lightest offender). It also doesn't help that Lieumon reminds me of two ships in my fandom that I have similar issues with.

Thank you for nourishing the flames of my hatred :D :D

Whenever I'm feeling down, need a good laugh, or end up seeing it so much of it myself, I search Lieumon on your blog and end up getting back to 100% due to your posts being funny/awesome. I completely concur with you on it, and wonder if you still have irrational seething hatred for it.

I replied:

yES

I was just thinking about this because I was trawling for Tarrlok content and UGHHH LIEUMON STILL INESCAPABLE.

The undying resentment is a bit silly (lol, a bit) because … you know, ship and let ship, at least the Lieutenant seems to have been devoted to him, and ships have sailed on less than that. (Though ships have also been crushed on less than Noatak’s response to the Lieutenant’s discovery of his true nature, lol.) It’s just. Personally, argh!

ETERNAL NOTP.
